17. Hitler and the Reinterpretation of Positive Values

How do you manage to completely transform a person from within? How do you get children to betray their parents?

To do this, the previous world must first be reinterpreted, so that others can no longer be believed, that the lie is supposedly omnipresent. People must be shaken into uncertainty so that they become open to taking up a new perspective and seeking new orientation.

The world so far is corrupt, unjust, dishonest and characterized by lies. Everything is bad. Therefore, Germany must be made great again.

Hitler’s goal was to advance the restoration of German economic and military dominance.

This upheaval of the previous world of life is flanked by a massive generation of anxiety, which makes the human being search even more for the saving way out, so as not to be left isolated and separated from previous truths and ways of life, as a desperate person.

In this existential upheaval, he is offered a new sense of belonging in which he can overcome isolation. The previous disorientation seems to have been overcome, because now a new community provides support.

This community is given an authoritarian leadership that provides orientation and has comprehensive state power. Other influences are restricted. The state power now coordinates all aspects of life for the benefit of all and the individual is relieved. Conservative values are supposed to strengthen the community. This now includes loyalty to the German people, love for the nation, the cohesion of a “people’s community” that is loyal to the leader  (Führer) and fights everything that harms it. This includes the “cleansing” of “pests”, inferior races, but also of the disabled.

A person who has been led into uncertainty and then frightened is almost panicked in search of orientation and cohesion.

The old democratic order, i.e. the “Weimar Republic”, was continuously massively discredited and maligned over the years, as if all life risks, all frustrations, all unfulfilled wishes, simply all the bad things in this world and one’s own reality of life existed solely because of this first democracy after the First World War.

Trapped in this world of ideas and in hopeless fear of an uncertain future, those political forces are now rising that have carried out this reinterpretation in a targeted and strategic way and that have created anxiety from it.

The people who have been drummed into this dark world of ideas and who now have to choose between the downfall of their lives and the nation and on the other side the fulfillment of their longings by the all-saving leader (Führer) are increasingly enthusiastic that someone is saving them from destruction. A saving “Messiah” is within reach, but not yet elected.

If people are faced with the question of how important security, i.e. freedom from external threats, is to them, and whether they would also restrict their individual freedom for it, they usually make this exchange.

Security is exchanged for individual freedom: What is individual freedom compared to the destruction of existence by external or internal enemies?

It seems better to elect a dictator, i.e. a supposedly strong man who creates order and security, than to risk general and also one’s own downfall in the face of external threats.

It is part of the strategy of seizing power to simply promise anything in order to come to power. Whether any of this can be fulfilled or not does not matter in any way, since it does not affect the strategic goal of the seizure of power.

Moreover, promising completely unrealistic goals even raises the status of a savior, a Messiah who can also work miracles, someone so strong that he can take on the whole world.

If there is now an offer that makes a firm orientation and a loyal togetherness tangible and removes the fear of doom, finally creates security, then a person who thinks and feels in this way is ready for a reorientation and also for a radical break with his previous relationships.

He is absorbed in this new community. But in this new community, the anxiety of separation sets in. This is threatened with drastic penalties. A lack of loyalty increases the risk of being excluded. Thinking must conform to the new direction. The pressure of the new community increases and puts people in new constraints. This compulsion to conform then takes on ever more brutal, almost absurd turns, which Eugène Ionesco describes in his story “The Rhinoceroses” in 1957.

In the play, people increasingly turn into rhinos under such pressure to conform.

No one can change anything about the transformation, as it is initially only noticed by a few. Warnings are not believed. Only the main character remains untransformed in the end in a world that is no longer his.

Thus, the people of the Hitler era were driven into a world of imagination in which they were trapped and then did everything they could to avoid being excluded from the community, which often meant concentration camps and death.

In summary, the following strategic steps were necessary to seize power:

  1. First of all, the existing situation is badmouthed for years wherever possible. This existing situation is now described with all kinds of lies, lying exaggerations and false claims as a sinking and threatening world.
  2. Then ideas are built up in which massive anxiety reinforce people’s general anxieties of life and keep them at the highest possible level.
  3. As soon as one has achieved that anxiety becomes overpowering and thus loosens and questions previous bonds, people are driven into an existential decision that can only have salvation or destruction as its content.
  4. After the old ties and relationships destroyed by anxiety, a new home, a new relationship that now fulfills all longings and finally offers security, is offered in the election. Hitler’s party, the NSDAP, thus became a stronger power in the Reichstag election on 14 September 1930 with about 18.3 %, only to receive 37,4 % on 31 July 1932 with this “successful” strategy and then finally to reach 43,9 % on 5. March 1933. Five weeks befor that, Hitler took power, and it was through intimidation etc. already a false confirmation and legitimization, but subsequently he did not need any further elections, which would have allowed real freedom of choice on the basis of differences in content and freedom of expression. Next elections in November 1933 there was only a list with NSDAP (Hitlers party) and the vote for exit the “Völkerbund” (League of Nations). Political opponents continued to be defamed, but also increasingly persecuted, beaten down, and finally the largest opposition party, the SPD, was banned as a “party hostile to the state and the people”. Democracy had been abolished.
  5. After the destruction of democracy and freedom of expression, there is an ever-increasing pressure to conform to all social groups (the rhinos!). Therefore, the content of authoritarian power politics is now being tackled. Power is consolidated by eliminating all those who can still resist.
  6. People are now no longer guided only by the external anxiety of their newly created world of ideas, but now also by the inner anxiety of an ever-increasing pressure to conform through an all-encompassing political power. Since this power encompasses all areas of life, it is called totalitarian (Latin “totum” means “the whole”).
  7. Fear is now installed as an instrument of power in all areas of life and thus one gets both external and internal pressure of all kinds a controllable mass of people who ultimately remain trapped in this power. Freedom of anxiety has been abolished.

“Make Germany great again” and “Germany first” could now be enforced radically and with brute force at home and abroad.

But what that meant was no longer decided by the people or the voters, but by those who had seized power after initial elections.

Anxiety causes in people the depressive states of lethargy and apathy, so that their liveliness is limited.

Thus, it is not surprising in Hitler’s time that the following took place millions of times as an example:

“I was surprised about the nice greengrocer around the corner, whom the Nazis should have picked up just because he is Jewish. But I didn’t know him that well and was afraid of trouble and so I was silent and did nothing.

I was also surprised when the Nazis took away my neighbor a few weeks later, because he was not a Jew and had probably only expressed different ideas. But I knew him only from fleeting encounters and so I was silent and did nothing.

When the Nazis came and picked me up, there was no one left to protest.”

So, the nice greengrocer on the corner initially became a completely different one, namely a Jew, which was not known before and which did not matter. Then one learned that Jews were dangerous for the national community and finally that they should be excluded and that one should buy from others.

The creation of anxiety of others with lies and false claims is the core of racism and anti-Semitism.

The divisive element in the creation of anxiety thus becomes exclusion. This exclusion can then be made part of a new sense of community generated by high pressure to conform. A new identity of a group, a group movement, is created. The enemy is identified:

And who doesn’t want to belong to a community as an isolated person instead of being excluded with big problems?

The war opponents of the current “third world war” use the power of anxiety excessively in various ways and in different systems.

All four powers, which have openly communicated that they want to fight the “dominance of the West”, are great anxiety-mongers.

This very clear statement was a declaration of war against the democracies of this world and pursues the intention of undermining and transforming democracies. Unless they can be defeated directly by conventional military means, as is being tried in Ukraine, other strategies must be used.

Therefore, these actors ask themselves very carefully how to buy a government or a head of government.

These are the structures. It must be repeated again abundantly clearly: Absolutely no one is compared here with the mass murderer Hitler, which would be inappropriate.

But to compare the deep structures that existed in the Hitler era with today’s structures is a core task of every thinking person.

A comparison of historical parallels, which brings together the fateful development of the many decisions into a community of responsibility, must at least lie in the answer to why all this has become the way it has.

This claim must be wrested from a historical comparison of structures.

In particular, the community of responsibility of the Republican Party and its voters must face these comparisons on the basis of its great tradition of not only recourse to the imperative of James Madison, unless it cowardly wants to give up its intellectual and moral claim to leadership altogether.

Trump has taken over and dominated the once traditional party in a hostile takeover. If Trump were to win the election, the increasing economic decline of America would be predictable, as in Britain, and the party would then probably go down the Torry path to irrelevance. Great Britain can be a stark warning to those who want to continue to support its strategic game of lies and anxiety. However, America needs credible political alternatives and checks and balances. America needs a Republican party with moral integrity, not built on lies.

It is evident that Trump no longer has support in not small parts of the Republican Party, who publicly oppose Trump and justify this with their patriotic duty. An election victory for Harris would buy the Republican Party the time to free itself from the “Trump dynasty” and find itself again.

So, you can very well draw conclusions from these comparisons of structures. This is not only appropriate, but also necessary if we do not want to make the same historical mistakes twice, namely to have stood up too late and too little for democratic structures.

If there is only one lesson to be learned from this, it is that in a democracy we must act in good time, and the citizens must be informed about the structures and the facts, so that they can still choose freely before it is too late, and democracy and its processes are increasingly restricted.

As long as there is still a certain freedom from anxiety, you should use it to avoid being overrun later.

To have to experience a presidential candidate in the world’s largest democracy, the USA, who promotes the anti-democratic structures of anxiety-mongering with every conceivable lie, who drives his followers into a anxiety-ridden world of ideas out of strategic power interests, which has little to do with reality, who already threatens political opponents with revenge and intimidation and then also announces that he will be able to  wanting to restrict previous freedoms to a considerable extent is an incredible process and a considerable threat to democracy.

The historical development of World War 3 as shown here has absolutely nothing to do with Joe Biden, but started over 2 decades ago and the invasion of Ukraine was planned for years probably even during Trump’s favorable term in office, as just one measure among many. Trump’s weakening of NATO is unprecedented in history. His statements are letters of invitation to the war opponents of the democracies!

What does America want with a presidential candidate who is not in the least capable of analyzing global political contexts, or who is incapable of doing so, but does not want to communicate, because power is more important to him than democracy?

However, this process not only influences the fate of America, but to a considerable extent the development of the Third World War, which must finally be recognized as such and, above all, how and where it is also being waged covertly.

It is a world war, because it is directed against all democracies and democratic movements of this world and thus has a worldwide dimension. It is a war, because the actors are states that constantly and incessantly drive massive damage in a targeted, strategic and tactical manner.

In doing so, they have long used all means of deception, covert operations, hacker attacks, criminal harm via drugs, economic crime, organized smuggling in migration, triggering migration flows like Putin in Syria, and of course, where it is unavoidable, open conventional wars such as in Georgia and Ukraine, which are even being reinterpreted.

Under the now new protective shield, which is generated by the defensive to the aggressive anxiety generation of nuclear “weapons”, the will to resist in the democracies shall be broken.

A special weapon that can trigger massive existential anxiety is that of dependence.

Initially seduced by seemingly cheap loans, great opportunities and economic progress in a cooperation, business is done that leads to dependencies.

This includes, above all, strategic positioning in the areas of rare raw materials, rare earths, and globally scarce goods of all kinds.

But the infrastructures and everything that is urgently needed for the survival of a state also come into view.

The takeover of companies at prices that are unattainable for others, to the surprised delight of the sellers, are also very tempting possibilities that fit into the plan of dominating democracies over dependencies.

The threat of separation usually creates the necessary anxiety, which then makes you compliant. However, if it is necessary to carry out a separation, the damage that already occurs in the creation of anxiety is also increased in the further effects.

If the voters in the USA and the media in the USA do not recognize this, then the war opponents of democracy have conquered further ground and then the defense of democracies will become even more difficult.
